Privacy Policy

This is a draft template, not a finalized legal document. It needs review by qualified counsel before publishing, standard practice for any policy a company relies on, and doubly so here given what Lergal is actually built to help other firms do.

Draft, last updated 2026.

1. What This Covers

This policy describes how Lergal collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Lergal platform, including the website, the application, and any connected services.

2. Information We Collect

Account information you provide directly (name, email, firm details), matter and document content you upload or generate through the platform, and usage data collected automatically (log data, device information).

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide and operate the platform, including research, contract review, compliance tracking, and practice management features
  • To maintain the confidentiality classification and audit trail described in our Security page
  • To communicate with you about your account or requested services
  • To improve the platform, in ways that respect matter confidentiality

4. Data Handling by Jurisdiction

Where a matter is associated with a specific jurisdiction, data handling follows the regulation applicable in that jurisdiction (for example, POPIA in South Africa), in addition to this policy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Data may be shared with service providers who support platform operation, under confidentiality obligations, or where required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact privacy@lergal.ai to make a request.
